Cover art, while a mere shadow of what it used to be in the vinyl days, still is often judiciously used to foreshadow what's to be unfurled onto our ears and emotions. With cover art of a kitchen knife firmly thrust through a heart amidst a clean white backdrop, Orange County's Bleeding Through plunge cleanly and deeply in laying out their 13 surgical strikes for a crunching, melodic maelstrom of determination for ' This Is Love, This Is Murderous.'

While some say the first cut is the deepest, here it simply foreshadows the variety of depth and length achieved throughout BT's third 6-surgeon operation following 2001's 'Dust To Ashes' and 2002's 'Portrait Of The Goddess.' An all-encompassing anesthesia is provided with the opening heavy yet still ethereal swirl of "Love Lost In A Hail Of Gun Fire" that showcases their range and influences. Head surgeon Brandon Schieppati's (vocals) confidence surges throughout alongside Marta (keys/electronics), Scott Danough (guitar), Brian Leppke (guitar), Derek Youngsma (drums) and Ryan Wombacher (bass). "Sweet Vampirous" and "What I Bleed Without You" pummel relentlessly in their thunderous defiance amidst some unexpected, yet well-placed keyboard reprieve. Effectively blending genres makes this operation inescapably worth revisiting. Fittingly, BT's finale of "Revenge I Seek" showcases the aforementioned as Marta's keys add a haunting dimension to this resonant circle-pit stirrer that has Scott and Brian lending their racing, crunching chops to Ryan's fast walking bass to Derek's galloping poundings that are awash in fills into its classic 1-2, 1-2 fervent march.

Wisely, BT resist resting on their past laurels of opening for AFI's 2003 tour or their prized slot at 2004's OZZFEST. Embracing all that's emerging, coupled with their relentless touring schedule that includes this year's WARPED tour, these Orange County grown surgeons are keeping their drive alive. With no led up in sight and a February 2006 release of 'The Truth' approaching, Bleeding Through's 'Murderous' drive leaves a strong foundation for future fruitions as this book and cover ring true.
