Irish rock ‘n’ roll quartet The Strypes played an even more high-energy show at the Shibuya O-East on October 10.

After their two initial shows at the Ebisu Liquidroom (10/08 and 10/09), The Strypes moved the Tokyo party to the bigger venue in Shibuya (a show that was added to the tour after the initial Tokyo shows were sold out soon after being announced). Of course this last Tokyo show will still smaller than the one at Asagiri Jam over the weekend, but it showed how these young men can rock the house no matter what the size of the venue.

Even though the repertoire was fairly similar to the first two concerts, the Shibuya show felt very different. Much more energetic and with a younger crowd, today both band and audience seemed absolutely devoted to each other. Such was the energy of this show that the audience even got a treat that the fans of the other previous shows did not get, a second (unscheduled) set of encores.

As in the previous show I covered (10/08), two of the favorites songs of the audience were “You Can’t Judge a Book” and “Heart of the City”, which today, maybe because of the lower average age of the audience in this show, almost started a mosh pit.

If you have not managed to get a ticket for any of their Japan Tour 2013 shows, you can settle for a second best and see them perform on live TV (at least if you are in Japan). The Strypes will perform, for the second time this year, in the popular TV program “Music Station” Friday, October 18, which airs at 8pm on TV Asahi. It will not be quite like seeing them live, but it will certainly get your heart pumping and your feet moving.
