The first experience of this family band, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, was at SXSW in Austin back in 2008 and the second one came out about 6 months later at Asagiri Jam in the same year. I remember Kitty was about 15 or so. I hear, even at that time, the kids were DJing with some classic SP records in London. Would you call what they do “retro” or “anachronism”? But you have to remember the kids are far too young to experience that kind of music. I wonder why, but then what? Good music is timeless and immortal and they are charmed by that and doing something now and we all love them. That’s what it is.

Although I saw the band a couple of times ever since, this time particularly I was amazed that the kids used to be are not kids anymore and well matured not only physically, but musically. You have to know that neither they are retro nor anachronism. Their music is new, alive & kicking’ and people in Japan love them so much that the venue was packed in Tokyo and, I hear, it was the same in Osaka.

Missed the shows? If so, catch them up at this year’s Fuji Rock Festival to experience real good music.
